Be Prepared for Class

  • Field runs start at the time stated above. Please arrive a few minutes early to complete sign-in procedures.
  • CAA smoke schools are digital - bring a fully-charged smart phone or tablet. Extra devices will be available for use if you do not have a mobile device.

Smoke School Duration

  • One-Day Smoke Schools: Field certification ends when attendees who arrived at the start time are certified, or no longer wish to attempt to become certified.
  • Two-Day and Three-Day Smoke Schools: Field certification runs until the stated end time; students still requiring certification will come back for the subsequent day(s) of class. The final day of smoke school ends when attendees who arrived at the start time are certified, or no longer wish to attempt to become certified.

SELF-PACED LECTURE (default format)

CAA's self-paced lecture fulfills EPA Method 9 requirements and is approved by TCEQ for Texas students.

    •  PRICING  Registrations received within less than 7 days from the start of class will be assessed a $25 late fee.

    Field Certification Smoke School: $200
    Self-Paced Lecture Course: $50

     SESSION NOTES  This TWO-DAY school, sponsored by Lyons Cement Plant (CEMEX), offers both the lecture and the field certification. On the FIRST day, the lecture begins at 8:00 am and meets in the 1-story building. The field runs begin at 10:00. On the SECOND day, the field runs begin at 8:00. The school will be considered CLOSED when all the employees who were present at 8:00 am have passed. Those attending the lecture will need to have their PPEs on at the lecture site. No PPEs are needed at the parking lot where smoke school field sessions are held.

    For non-CEMEX registrants to the Lyons Plant lecture session on 9/15/2015, please:Report to Lyons Plant Front Office (Trailer south of the office building under renovation) not later than 7:45 AM for Site-Specific Safety Training. They will need to fill up a form.
    Bring Personal Protective Equipment - Hard Hat, eye protector, steel-toed/hard-toed boots; we can provide the vest and ear protection.
    Guests attending the lecture session must wear their PPE on the way to the conference room and on the way back to the front office. We advise any guest who refuses follow this PPE policy to leave the premises.
