Be Prepared for Class

  • Field runs start at the time stated above. Please arrive a few minutes early to complete sign-in procedures.
  • CAA smoke schools are digital - bring a fully-charged smart phone or tablet. Extra devices will be available for use if you do not have a mobile device.

Smoke School Duration

  • One-Day Smoke Schools: Field certification ends when attendees who arrived at the start time are certified, or no longer wish to attempt to become certified.
  • Two-Day and Three-Day Smoke Schools: Field certification runs until the stated end time; students still requiring certification will come back for the subsequent day(s) of class. The final day of smoke school ends when attendees who arrived at the start time are certified, or no longer wish to attempt to become certified.

CAA's self-paced lecture fulfills EPA Method 9 requirements and is approved by TCEQ for Texas students.

    Field Certification Smoke School: $200
    Self-Paced Lecture Course: $50

     SESSION NOTES  This is a school that offers the lecture and field certification. The field begins at 8:00 am. ALL NEW PARTICIPANTS should report to the field location at 7:30 for a briefing on how to read smoke. The remainder of the lecture will be held after the field runs at Michelin. DIRECTIONS TO THE FIELD EXERCISE: Michelin (sign at plant reads "B F Goodrich") is located in the Little Italy area. From I-20/I-59, take exit 71. Go north on I-359 approximately 2 miles. Exit at 15th St. (left exit) (also Hwy 11, Hwy 13 and Hwy 43). Go west approximately 2 miles. Street name changes to Stillman Blvd. Bear left at Culver St. Turn right on Goodrich Blvd. Bear left to 20th St. and then to 21st St. The sign reads "B F Goodrich" company (not Michelin). Go past main gate. Turn left into the field area that is past the lot with trailers. (Pavilion will provide shelter from the rain). DIRECTIONS
