Be Prepared for Class

  • Field runs start at the time stated above. Please arrive a few minutes early to complete sign-in procedures.
  • CAA smoke schools are digital - bring a fully-charged smart phone or tablet. Extra devices will be available for use if you do not have a mobile device.

Smoke School Duration

  • One-Day Smoke Schools: Field certification ends when attendees who arrived at the start time are certified, or no longer wish to attempt to become certified.
  • Two-Day and Three-Day Smoke Schools: Field certification runs until the stated end time; students still requiring certification will come back for the subsequent day(s) of class. The final day of smoke school ends when attendees who arrived at the start time are certified, or no longer wish to attempt to become certified.

 LECTURE OPTIONS 

SELF-PACED LECTURE (default format)

CAA's self-paced lecture fulfills EPA Method 9 requirements and is approved by TCEQ for Texas students.

Organizations who would prefer an in-person or livestream lecture, call the registrar at 901-381-9960.

 PRICING  Registrations received within less than 7 days from the start of class will be assessed a $25 late fee.

ARRIVE 6:30 AM FOR 8AM SMOKE SCHOOL NOTES:Additional field runs after lecture if necessary. Requirements: No pocket knives, no beards, (H2S in plant) smoking only in designated areas. MUST have safety glasses, flame retardant clothing, steel toe shoes, hard hat. Must complete 20 minute video and JSA before beginning work. All paperwork (permit to work, hot work permit for non-welding activity, JSA, etc.) and smoke equipment setup need to be completed early --- prior to class start time; she sent paperwork. We are set to start class at 8 AM, and since many are on days off and will be paid overtime, let's ensure that we are ready to start class/activity on time promptly at 8 AM. Please note that permits must be signed by plant lead operator, field coordinator, and operations supervisor.
