The opacity limit for Alaska is 20% opacity averaged over 6 consecutive minutes; pre-Aug 17, 1971 coal boilers get limited additional allowance per (a)(9), as established under 18 AAC 50.055(a)(1); exceptions (a)(2)-(9); marine vessels 18 AAC 50.070.

Compliance is demonstrated via EPA Method 9 (with Alaska-specific modifications); ALT-082 (camera-based) being explored.

Averaging period: 6-min average; source-specific exceptions in (a)(2)-(9)

ADEC uses EPA Method 9 with Alaska-specific modifications that allow readings through water vapor.
