Utah Visible Emissions / Opacity Standard
The opacity limit for Utah is Pre-April 25, 1971 installations: 40% opacity; post-April 25, 1971: 20%; all incinerators regardless of age: 20%; PM10 nonattainment areas (Salt Lake/Utah/Davis Cos.): 20% for all; diesel engines 20% (post-1973) / 40% (pre-1973), as established under Utah Admin. Code R307-201-3(1)-(3); SSM short-period allowance (7); PM10 nonattainment areas R307-305-1.
Compliance is demonstrated via EPA Method 9 (compliance method per R307-201-3(8)).
Averaging period: 6-minute average; exceptions ≤3 min for startup/shutdown
